Myopia, also referred to as near-sightedness, is a condition in which people have problems seeing distant objects. Near-sightedness is caused by the cornea being longer or steeper than an eye with perfect vision. So light that passes through the lens and cornea of the eye hits the front of the retina. This makes far-away images appear blurry. Refractive surgery may be a solution to correct your near-sightedness.
Hyperopia or far-sightedness is a condition in which the affected eye is slightly shorter than a normal eye and may have a more flat cornea. Thus, the light that reflects off the distant objects focuses behind the retina. This results in closer objects requiring greater focusing power.
